Dr. Mackenzie Thurston

Mackenzie is a Kanata native who graduated from Bemidji State University in Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She was a member of their Division I Women’s Hockey team for 4 years. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York. Since then Mackenzie has completed training in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, Active Release Technique, ConnecTX Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy, Rocktape Kinesiology Taping – Functional Movement Techniques, Advanced Lower Extremity Movement Analysis and Custom Orthotics, Concussion Management, and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS).
Mackenzie has valuable experience examining, diagnosing and treating a diverse population with a number of different cases including spinal and extremity complaints. She uses her background in sport and education to help patients achieve their goals whether it be returning to work or sport, improving mobility and movement awareness or simply getting out of pain. She emphasizes patient education and functional movement-based rehabilitation to compliment her manual therapy. She will work collaboratively with other wellness professionals to ensure you have a well-rounded healing experience.
Outside of Aruma, Dr. Thurston enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dog Ricki. She has always been involved in competitive sports and enjoys hockey, soccer, yoga, spending time outdoors and at the gym.
