MA; Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Lauren Matheson holds a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality. She provides psychotherapy with the aim of forming understanding, compassionate, and trusting connections to support individuals as they navigate through challenges in their lives. Practising psychotherapy for over two years, Lauren has experience supporting clients as they work through challenges related to anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, traumatic experiences, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, and various life transitions. Whether you are seeking to better understand your mental health, or start working toward change, Lauren will collaborate with you to form a plan that fits your needs.
Lauren has completed intensive training in Self-In-Relationship Psychotherapy, as well as additional training in the use of mindfulness, attachment theory, and trauma-sensitive approaches. Her theoretically informed therapy can help you to examine your unmet needs and bring awareness to how to heal within the therapeutic relationship. Lauren’s education and training also allow her to incorporate your spirituality into therapy should you desire, though this will never be imposed on you.
Lauren spent the first 20 years of her life in a small rural town in Northwestern Ontario, and feels a strong connection to the sense of community that resonates through Aruma. She is delighted to work with a team of knowledgeable and experienced practitioners providing health and wellness, as she truly believes that we are at our best when mind, body, and spirit are aligned. When she is not reading or engaging in training related to her practice, Lauren can be found trying new recipes and spending time with her family.
