Lauren Matheson
MA; Registered Psychotherapist; Canadian Certified Counsellor
Provides services virtually
Lauren has been part of the psychotherapy team at Aruma since 2019.
She believes that day to day we all do the best we can, however we can all use support at some point in our lives. Whether your goal is to build new coping skills, or examine patterns in your life, Lauren believes that positive change is possible within a therapeutic relationship – she’s seen it happen.
Her approach varies depending on your needs. You may find her drawing from her advanced training in Psychodynamic therapies, Systemic therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Emotion Focused Therapy. Lauren is fully trained in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for symptoms resulting from traumatic events.
In addition to her Master’s Degree, Lauren holds a Graduate Diploma in Couple Counselling and Spirituality and is an Associate Member of the Canadian Association for Marriage & Family Therapy. She specializes in working with diverse relationships, including couple, family, sibling, and parental.
She is available exclusively for virtual therapy appointments by telephone or video. You may find this a convenient way to connect with a therapist, as it often gives you access to a wider range of therapists and allows you to connect from the comfort of your own space. Reach out if you have questions, or if you think virtual therapy with Lauren will be a good fit for you.
